Calling our service desk

Who answers when I call 844-335-0814?

A person at our service desk answers 24 hours a day. They ask about the problem and your location, then connect you with an independent local electrician.

Does Electrician Sacramento Pros do the electrical work?

No. We are a referral service. The independent electrician you are connected with quotes, schedules and completes the work, and is responsible for it.

Can I request service online or by email?

No. We only take requests by phone, so please call 844-335-0814.

Do I pay anything to call?

There is no charge to call the service desk. Pricing for the work comes from the electrician you are connected with.

Emergencies

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Sparking or smoking outlets, a burning smell, a hot or buzzing panel, water near electrical equipment, exposed wiring and loss of power to critical equipment all need prompt attention.

What should I do before the electrician arrives?

If there is smoke or fire, leave and call 911. If it is safe, switch off the affected breaker or the main breaker and keep people away from the area.

Will someone come out at night?

We answer 24/7 and will try to connect you with an electrician available at that hour. The electrician will confirm timing and any after hours pricing.

Licenses, permits and SMUD

How do I know an electrician is licensed?

Ask for the contractor license number and check it on the CSLB license check. Look for an active C10 electrical license.

Can a handyman do small electrical jobs?

Only very small ones. Since January 1, 2025, the minor work exemption covers jobs under $1,000 total that need no permit and no hired workers.

Who issues electrical permits around Sacramento?

Cities issue permits through their own building departments, and Sacramento County's Community Development Department serves unincorporated areas. Your electrician should pull the permit.

Why does SMUD need an inspection before reconnecting?

For work that changes your service, SMUD energizes the service only after the local agency approves it, which protects you and utility crews.

Costs and estimates

How much does an electrician cost?

It depends on the job, the existing wiring and any permit. The electrician you are connected with will quote your specific job; ask for it in writing.

Are there rebates for EV chargers?

As of October 2026, SMUD's Charge@Home program offers up to $850 toward home charging for eligible customers, plus up to $200 for a circuit sharing device.

Should I get more than one quote for a big project?

For larger jobs such as panel upgrades or rewiring, comparing written scopes helps you see what each quote includes.
